Privacy & Terms

Svarosa helps young musicians find music opportunities that fit them: auditions, competitions, summer programs, classes, concerts and more. You trust it with something personal, your musical life. This page says exactly what happens to that information and the terms you agree to when you sign up. It describes how the product works today, not plans.
What we collect
- Account basics. Your name, email address and profile picture, and Google’s ID for your account, from signing in with Google. Your birth year, for the age check (only the year, never your full birthdate), and your school grade if you give it. The date you agreed to this page.
- Your portfolio. What you choose to add: your bio, town, instruments, teachers and training; your repertoire, performances, achievements and goals; and your Preferences, what you’re looking for. Pieces, performances, achievements and pursuits can each carry a private note.
- What you do in Discovery and Pursuits. The listings you save, hide or mark “Not for me” (with any reasons you pick), the custom feeds you write, any listing you report, any note you choose to send us about a listing or a match, what each list showed you, your Pursuits board with its notes, and any opportunity you add yourself.
- Usage data. Which pages and features you use, and error reports when something breaks, recorded in our own database. We use no third-party analytics or advertising trackers: no Google Analytics, no pixels, no fingerprinting. To stop abuse, a few requests are counted by internet (IP) address, and those counts are deleted within a day.
- Email. We send a welcome email when you sign up, and then your Saturday letter, which you can turn off from any letter or in Settings. We record whether it was delivered, through Resend, our email provider, and which listings in it you open, through our own links, which helps your matches. We don’t track whether you open the email itself.
- Teacher accounts. A teacher’s name, email address, instruments, and studio or school, so a student knows exactly who is asking to link with them, and their confirmation that they are an adult. A teacher can invite a student who isn’t on Svarosa yet by email: we keep that address to send the invitation and one reminder, and if the person asks not to be emailed again, we keep the address on a do-not-email list so we never do. A teacher’s own choices for a student’s search (what to look for, and listings they mark as not for that student) are kept for that teacher only.
- Sketches. A teacher can search for a student who isn’t on Svarosa by describing them without saying who they are: instrument, age or grade, town and pieces. We ask for no name, email, phone or school, and refuse contact details if they’re typed in. A sketch is visible only to the teacher who made it, and is deleted with their account, or when the teacher marks that the student has joined.
We keep all of this for as long as you have an account, and delete it when you delete your account (see Your data, your exit).
Cookies
We use only the cookies the service needs: the few that keep you signed in securely, and, if someone says they are under 13, one that stops that browser from signing up again for a while. Your browser also keeps a few small settings, like light or dark mode, the prompts you’ve dismissed, and when you last used Svarosa, so a return visit counts as one. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To run the service you signed up for. Matching you to opportunities, showing why each one fits, keeping your portfolio, linking you with your teacher if you choose to, and sending your emails. That is what your information is for.
- To fix and improve Svarosa, using usage patterns across everyone.
- Nothing else without asking you first. Any new use beyond running the service will be its own clear choice, off until you turn it on.
How we use AI
AI helps Svarosa do a few specific jobs. It is a tool for finding what fits you, and it works under the rules below. It is used in these four places, and nowhere else:
- Matching. Your portfolio and Preferences are turned into a numeric summary by Voyage AI, so we can find listings close to them. Claude, by Anthropic, then reads your portfolio, your Preferences in your own words, the names of your teachers, and the listings you marked “More like this” or “Not for me”; it puts your top matches in order and writes the short “why it fits you” line.
- Custom feeds. Claude turns what you write, like “free chamber music near me”, into a search, and gives the feed its name.
- For your teacher. When a teacher you’ve linked with looks for opportunities for you, the same matching runs on only what you share with them, with your first name, and the “why it fits” line is written for them. A teacher’s sketch of a student who isn’t on Svarosa is matched the same way.
- Our catalog. AI reads the public websites of music programs and writes each listing’s name, short summary and description. No student information is involved.
Only the text a task needs is sent. Your email address, birth year and private notes never are. Under our agreements with Anthropic and Voyage AI, what we send is not used to train their models. Voyage AI deletes it as soon as it’s processed; Anthropic may keep it for a short time for safety and abuse checks before deleting it.
The rules we build it to follow:
- It describes; it never judges. It states what you told us: pieces, dates, your own words. It will not rate your skill, call a piece “advanced”, or tell you what kind of musician you are.
- It never fills in blanks. If you didn’t say something, it stays empty. Matches are real listings, each linked to its official source.
- It works for you, not on you. It never grades you, ranks you against other students, or builds a profile of you for anyone else.
- No chatbot. Svarosa has no AI chat. It will never make music, never act as a companion or give life advice, and never hand out grades or talent scores.
We build these rules into how it works and check what it writes, but AI can still make mistakes: misread a listing, or write a line that misses your meaning or slips past one of these rules. Always check deadlines, costs and requirements on the official source. If you see a line that breaks a rule, report the listing or write to hello@svarosa.com and we will fix it.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We show no advertisements and use no ad trackers.
- We never share your portfolio with anyone unless you choose to. Sharing with a teacher, below, works exactly this way. If Svarosa later lets programs reach you, that will be your own separate, revocable choice, never a default.
Sharing with a teacher
Teachers can have Svarosa accounts too, so the people who already guide a student can help them find opportunities. Teacher accounts are for adults and need an invite code. Because most of our students are not yet adults, linking runs entirely on the student’s choice:
- Linking starts with your approval. A teacher can ask to link only by entering your exact email address, or by inviting you by email; there is no directory of students. You see who is asking and accept or decline. Nothing is shared until you accept.
- What a linked teacher sees. Your name and email address, and your About, Repertoire, Performances and Achievements: the musician your teacher already knows from lessons. Your Aspirations and your Pursuits are your choice: both start off, and you can turn them on when you accept or any time after, and off again. When your teacher looks for opportunities for you, their notes on each match also show your age, the level you chose in Preferences, and how far it is from your town.
- Some things are never shared. Your private notes on pieces, performances, achievements and pursuits, and the rest of your Preferences. The option does not exist, for a teacher or anyone else.
- You can take it back, always. Turn Aspirations or Pursuits off, or unlink a teacher, at any time. Unlinking ends their access to everything, and deletes what they kept about you: their choices for your search, their notes on listings for you, and the match lines written about you.
- Suggestions carry no obligation. A teacher can send you an opportunity with a note. If you add it to your Pursuits, they can see how it’s going (saved, applied, got in). If you pass on it, they are never told.
If you are a parent with questions about a teacher link on your child’s account, or want one removed, write to hello@svarosa.com.
Our listings, and reporting one
Every listing comes from a program’s own public website. Before it appears, it goes through automatic checks that it is a real music opportunity, from a real organization, open to students and not already past, and we take down listings once they are past or their page is gone. Even so, a listing can be wrong, out of date, or, very rarely, something that should not be there.
If you see one, report it. It disappears for you straight away, and a person at Svarosa reviews it. If several people report the same listing, it’s hidden for everyone until then. We keep who reported what, and any note you add, so the review can happen and the feature isn’t misused.
If you run a program, or are named in a listing, and want something corrected or removed, write to hello@svarosa.com.
Who touches the data
Svarosa runs on service providers who process data on our behalf and under our instructions: Google (sign-in, hosting, database and server logs), Resend (email), and Anthropic and Voyage AI (AI, as above). None of them may use your data for their own purposes. Inside Svarosa, only the small team that runs it can see accounts, to fix problems and check the matching works.
Age
Svarosa is for music students 13 and older. If someone tells us they are under 13 when signing up, we remove their account straight away, including any teacher’s invitation to their email address, keep none of their information, and stop that browser from signing up again for a while. If you are a parent and believe a child under 13 has an account, write to hello@svarosa.com and we will delete it.
Your data, your exit
Delete your account in Settings and your data goes with it: your portfolio, Preferences, Pursuits, feeds, usage history, email records, teacher links, and what a linked teacher kept about you, all removed from our database. Two things stay: if you asked us not to email you, your address stays on our do-not-email list so we never do; and our backups and short-lived server logs roll over on their own, within seven days for backups. A teacher who deletes their account takes their sketches and search choices with them. You can also email us to ask for deletion, or for a copy of your data, and we will send it.
Terms of use
By signing up you agree to this page. Svarosa is in early access and free to use. The short version of the terms is also the whole version:
- Your content is yours. You let us store and process it only to run the service for you.
- Listings come from the programs. We gather them with care, but the program’s own website is the final word on dates, costs and requirements. We don’t run these programs and aren’t responsible for them.
- Be a person, not a script. No scraping, abuse, impersonation, or attempts to break the service.
- Early access means imperfect. The service is provided as-is while we build, and features may change. We will treat your data with care regardless.
- We can part ways. You can leave, and take your data with you, at any time. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
If we change this page in a way that matters, we will say so in your Saturday letter and here, and ask you to agree again where needed.
